I began teaching twenty years ago this January. My favorite part of teaching is watching my students grow as thinkers, writers, readers and as people. I think that I am very fortunate to work in a community like Leyden because I'm surrounded by people who really care about kids. Everywhere I go around the school I find people who value kids as individuals, with their own unique characteristics.
I teach an American literature course and a rhetoric course. Both of these classes call upon my own interests, which include my own reading and writing. I feel that my own work feeds into the classroom, and I love sharing ideas that I've gathered over the years. In college I studied English and Classics, Latin and Ancient Greek, which gave me an interesting perspective on language.
