This year eight area high schools participated in the competition with a 200 piece exhibit. A panel of three judges will give out awards in 7 different categories. The pieces judged to be the strongest receive Blue Ribbon awards.
The works will be on display from January 20-February 15 with a closing reception on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 6 p.m.

Leyden students exhibited over 150 pieces of student artwork in the Founders Lounge at the Frick Center at Elmhurst College from January 5 to January 25, 2017. There was an artists’ reception, open to the public, on January 18, from 6:00-8:00pm. Ten area high schools participated in this exhibit. Leyden students received a total of 25 awards. Two of those awards also came with a $2,000 renewal scholarship to Elmhurst College. The skilled art students who won those awards are Jorge Gutierrez of East Leyden and Tania Cornoa Gutierrez of West Leyden. Jorge’s winning piece, Rainbow Flowers is an oil pastel drawing of 2 large flowers with petals of many colors. Tania’s piece is a technical colored pencil portrait titled Skin Deep.
