When: July 16-22  (144 Hours of Service!)

    Time: 11:30 PM - 3:30 PM

    Contact: Karlyn Gehring - - karlyn.gehring@associationofhorizon.org

What: This organization is a non-profit dedicated to breaking down boundaries between those with and without physical disabilities.  At camp, volunteers ages 16+ are paired one-on-one with adult campers with physical disabilities for a week of recreation and learning from one another. Student volunteers develop responsibility and leadership. For me, the communication and community-building skills I developed at camp also helped prepare me for my first jobs and my direction as I entered college.

  • Leyden Lions Minor League Football

The Leyden Lions Minor League Football organization is looking for volunteers for their six home football games!  This is an excellent opportunity to earn service hours!

Students will have a chance to earn these hours during the five home games, which are played at Babe Serpico Field (1000 N. 25th Ave).  There may also be opportunities for playoff games.  Each event will garner you seven service hours.  Duties will include the hydration station, pre game field set up, chain crew, post game field breakdown and other duties as assigned by the Coaching Staff.

The Leyden Lions are a 501c3 organization and we are looking to be more involved in our community.  We have participated in the annual Taste of Melrose Park.  Our website is www.leydenlions.com

If interested, the student or their parent should contact Mr. Hughes via email stating the student's name and school and the date(s) they would like to volunteer. All games will be played on Saturday at 7pm.  We would like for our volunteers to be there at 5pm.  If they bring a parent with them, the parent will be granted free admission.
