What: On Wednesday, October 5th, Leyden will host Career Prep with UPS. This is a chance for students to learn about: how to get hired, how to keep a job, and leadership through our panel discussions, period 1-3. Each period has a different theme, so even if a student is in multiple classes that participate, they will get something new out of each period. For students to really engage, we ask that the Juniors and Seniors turn in a resume to you. These students will have the opportunity to conduct a mock interview!
Why: This day highlights our careers areas, and gives students a dry run at interviewing and resume writing. The idea is that when the next interview really matters he/she will be prepared.
Because February is National Career and Technical Education Month, District 212 and Junior Achievement will mark the occasion by hosting “Ask the Expert Day” on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Are you interested in speaking with students regarding your educational background, day-to-day work, successes and rewards? If so, sign up here! In order to schedule you into a class registration closes Tuesday, January 17th.
Commitments range from as little as one 33 minute class to volunteering to speak to as many as eight classes. Our first classes begin at 8:50 AM and our last class ends at 2:30 PM. We will have breakfast and lunch items available throughout the day.
We know that opportunities like this help students apply and extend classroom learning, gain motivation and understanding, explore careers and develop critical understanding of the work environment.
